Beginning today, March 9th, same-sex marriage are taking place all over the District of Columbia, including our very own Rev. Elder Darlene Garner and Rev. Lorilyn Candy Holmes. See the video of their ceremony.

DIGGING OUT FROM FEBRUARY

As we are all well aware of the significant toll the weather took on our church over the past month, we are now even more aware of the financial hit we took as the snow plow bill arrived this week... $1,450.00... an all-time records for our church!

Obviously, we had not anticipated this expense in our annual budget which means the payments must come out of other funds.

We humbly ask if you might be able and willing to help us offset this expense in any way possible. Cash, Check, PayPal, ... even spare change! Every little bit would help!

Our PayPal account (rev-3-8@opendoormcc.com) is set up and running. We'll have a jug in the lobby for spare change. Checks can be written to Open Door MCC with "Digging Out Fund" in the Memo line.

This is the first time we've had to ask for contributions to handle unexpected bills, and we hope you understand the urgency in which we ask.

For those of us who were raised in a religious atmosphere, homosexuality was usually associated with shame and guilt. As a result, many of us were cut off from the spiritual dimension of our lives.
